Researching Photography - Keiko Sasaoka

Researching Photography（以下、RP）では前回の福居伸宏さんに続き、笹岡啓子さん（以下、敬称略）をゲストにお招きします。ゲストの笹岡は2009年に写真集『PARK CITY』、2010年には『EQUIVALENT』を発表し、個展『VOLCANO』（2011年１月15日-２月27日）を控えております。今回のRPは同個展期間中の開催となりますが、展示内容に触れつつも、これまでの「風景」のシリーズ、「PARK CITY」等を含めた制作活動について伺います。
メインの進行を担当する調文明は笹岡の所属するphotographers' galleryのウェブサイトにて「正方形の系譜」というエッセイを寄稿（*1）しており、調ならではの笹岡作品への視点も期待されます。（良知）

笹岡啓子（b.1978）
2002年東京造形大学卒業。photographers' galleryの設立メンバーとして企画、運営等の活動を展開しつつも、2001年より継続的に個展、グループ展を開催。2008年にはVOCA展奨励賞、2010年に日本写真協会賞新人賞を受賞している。photographers' galleryを中心に近年はタマダプロジェクトコーポレーション、ニコンサロン、山口情報芸術センターなどで個展を行うほか、国内外数多くのグループ展に参加している。

Researching Photography is pleased to invite a photographer, Keiko Sasaoka. In recent years, Sasaoka released her photographybook "PARK CITY"(2009), "EQUIVALENT"(2010) for the second year in a row. In 2011, her solo show VOLCANO will be held as the opening of a gallery called KULA PHOTO GALLERY. She will talk not only the coming show but also her <<Landscape>> series in the past and <<PARK CITY>> in which photographed in Hiroshima.
Bunmai Shirabe, graduate student of Aesthetics - Tokyo University, will be a main host of this talk. He writes essays on photography for several media.



Keiko Sasaoka was born in 1978, Hiroshima, Japan. She graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 2002(`Zokei` means a broader sense of design and fine arts). She is one of the founding members of photographers' gallery (Tokyo) and have been showed her work there in constant. In 2008, she won Encouragement prize at The Vision of Contemporary Art 2008 (Tokyo, Japan) and then Newcomer's Award at "Photographic Society of Japan Awards" in 2010.

2008年、調文明の提案により始まったResearching Photographyですが、今回はゲストに福居伸宏さんを迎え、今年８月に行われた個展『Asterism』（Tomio Koyama Gallery）に関する制作および展示を中心に、幅広い活動についてお聞きしたいと考えております。（良知暁）

福居伸宏（b.1972）
2004年から１年間、写真家金村修のワークショップに参加。主な個展に『Asterism』(2010, Tomio Koyama Gallery)、『Juxtaposition』(2008, Tomio Koyama Gallery)、グループ展に『DOUBLE VISION』(2010, トーキョーワンダーサイト)や『NO MAN'S LAND』(2009-10, フランス大使館, 旧館)がある。2008年The BMW Paris Photo Prize審査員賞受賞。

Researching Photography is pleased to invite a photographer, Nobuhiro Fukui to discuss his works. In this talk, we will focus on his approach to exhibitions including the recent exhibition, Asterism, which held at Tomio Koyama Koyama in this August.


Nobuhiro Fukui was born in 1972, Tokushima, Japan. He moved Tokyo to study Economics before he started to make his work. In 2004, He participated in the Photography Workshop by Osamu Kanemura, who is one of the leading photographers in Japan. Since then, he has held several solo shows and group shows both in Japan and overseas. In 2008, he won The BMW Photo Prize 2008, 'Mention speciale du jury(Jury distinction).'
